DESTINED FOR LANDING
inked, laser-cut, and hand-carved plywood mounted on steel
43 x 33 x 20 inches each (8)
Site-specific installation for Kara Walker Presents: The Colossus of Rutgers.
Inspired by the outdated and disregarded interpretive displays on the banks of the Raritan River in New Brunswick, the Perth Amboy Waterfront, and inside the Deserted Village of Feltville, NJ, this series of tongue-in-cheek fictional futuristic headlines question what is real on a planet that is rapidly decaying in nature and arguably in human consciousness. How will this time be remembered? Or should humanity project new endings, and while we wait, perhaps it’s alright to laugh at ourselves.
